Welcome to Will Athletic! I am truly grateful you are here, and I hope you find value in the content.

I realize you might be asking ‘What is Will Athletic?’.  That is a good question and something I’ll definitely hit on below.

But I would actually like to start with a different question – a question I feel needs to be asked and reflected upon before undertaking any new project or journey.

That question…  “why?”

I’ve been driven by personal and professional development for as long as I can recall – even before I knew it was a thing.

The first time I really felt this was back when I played football in high school.  After making it to varsity I began to fall in love with the work ethic, bigger stage, higher stakes, battle, and camaraderie.  I was compelled to be the best possible player and teammate I could be, and I knew that just going through the motions would never allow me to get there.

Now don’t get me wrong – I had no delusions of grandeur – football was never going to be a path for me to college or beyond, but I loved the game, and the lessons that it taught.  Nothing has quite compared throughout college, my fraternity experience, or professional career.

Yet even after all those years the ATHLETE remains.

Today, I live and work in the greater Washington, DC area, and find that when I look around the metro or even around the office, I see so many people checked out.  I believe we all have a desire for more, yet we are stuck in the daily grind of what life is supposed to look like.  The job, salary, and ‘stuff’…

There are incredible opportunities all around us to learn, grow and thrive – but we have to have our eyes open and pick our heads up from mindless hours checking Facebook or playing Candy Crush (if that’s even still a thing).

Rising above the daily grind

Days, months, and years quickly pass by with so many people still wondering what they want to be when they grow up.

The beauty of this, is that I don’t believe life needs to stay in this state of aimless wandering as we get older but it does not magically get better.

It takes hard work and self-reflection.  It requires tireless dedication to continue to grow and become the very best version of ‘you’.  It takes an athlete’s mindset to never be complacent with your current status in life or list of successes, but to always be taking incremental steps to bettering all aspects of your game.

So ‘Why’ Will Athletic.

While I’ve been out of sports for longer than I care to admit to myself, I’ve never stopped considering myself an athlete.  It is why I keep trying to improve myself in all aspects of my life and it’s why I feel I can use Will Athletic to challenge myself to do whatever it takes to uncover the path to my full potential and inspire others to do the same.

Will Athletic addresses the following to wake up that inner athlete that STILL exists and wants to compete:

  • Physical – we need to take care of our body through exercise, solid nutrition, and recovery to ensure we can meet the demands of anything life throws at us
  • Mental – Life is never easy therefore a strong mindset and inner willpower is critical to navigate and WIN the game of life
  • Spiritual – not in the religious sense (although certainly a possible component), but the feeling and realization of a bigger internal and external purpose – the inner drive and the big ‘why’ for our personal existence, and how we can make an impact in our world

I strongly believe in these areas, and want to share my voice with the world.

So why now?

This desire to create and put myself out there has been in me for a while. Since no one ever knows how long they have in this life, continuing to put Will Athletic in the ‘someday / maybe’ bucket stopped making sense.

In short – there is no time like the present.

Even if no one ever reads a single word that I write I know putting this content out there will provide me with a greater sense of clarity and take my development to the next level.

Yet, if I am fortunate enough to make an impact in even a single person’s life then every second spent on this blog will be worth it and then some.

So, if any of this strikes a chord, or sounds of interest, please subscribe.  I hope you find value in Will Athletic and I truly look forward to being of service to you all.

Now let’s get out there together and compete!
