Be Relentless

Lately I’ve been feeling like I’m treading water in certain areas of my life.  Anyone else know what I am talking about?

Despite knowing deep down that I have the fire and desire to get after it and do great things, I keep treading… going through the motions, checking the box, and ending the day exhausted.

What gives?  This isn’t me!  Am I getting soft?  Dare I say… complacent?

The fact that I would even consider asking myself that question says more than enough…

I’ve mentioned before that the idea of accepting complacency into my life is one of my biggest fears.  It’s our greatest enemy… the dream killer and vision destroyer.

I know what complacency can feel like… we all do, and I’ve started to feel it recently.

And now that I can admit that, it’s time to shut it down.

As I’ve thought more about what’s been going on between my ears and in my heart, one word has been showing up that’s started to stoke the fire…

RELENTLESS

It’s a beautiful word…  and it stirs up a little something whenever I hear it… “the defenses’ relentless pursuit of the quarterback.”  Let’s be honest… when you hear an announcer say that, it usually doesn’t end well for the quarterback.

We’ve all heard the word before, but what is its actual definition?

Relentless: showing no abatement of severity, intensity, strength, or pace

Anyone else fired up?

Today’s post is a bit selfish… call it a motivational speech to myself –  one that I sorely need right now.

And while I personally need this now, I know this feeling of treading water is something we all feel at times.  So I hope today’s message lights you up now or some day in the future when complacency tries to come knocking…

BE RELENTLESS…

Light Your Fire… BE RELENTLESS

You have big dreams.

You have a vision for yourself and your immediate world around you.

You say you want to make an IMPACT in people’s lives.

You say you want to BECOME your BEST SELF and INSPIRE others to do the same.

Well I don’t see it…

I see you going through the motions… giving it less than your best.  That’s not how champions are made.

That’s not how dreams are achieved or visions are fulfilled.

TODAY is a new day… today is a day to begin again… to BE RELENTLESS.

The most impactful accomplishments that we can achieve in life don’t come easy.

You can’t just check the box day in and day out and expect to cross your finish line.

It takes hard work, an inextinguishable fire inside, and a RELENTLESS pursuit of your vision for the future.

It’s about being RELENTLESS on the practice field, in the weight room, behind closed doors rehearsing your big presentation, studying alone in the library for the big test while others might be out partying.

It’s about putting in the blood, sweat and tears when no one is watching.  Champions are made behind closed doors.

How often to we watch in awe of our sports heroes or business leaders who make the most difficult athletic moves or business strategies look effortless and easy?

What is truly awe-inspiring are the hundreds of hours of unrelenting preparation and practice to master their craft in order to make it look easy.

Are we willing to put in that same level of work to become masters of our craft?

If the answer is ‘YES’, then stop checking the box and going through the motions.  BE RELENTLESS and battle your way to the top.

Because good enough isn’t good enough…

It doesn’t matter what your teammates or competitors are or aren’t doing.  Whether they are miles ahead of you or miles behind – be unrelenting in your preparation, execution and self-evaluation afterwards.

Because at the end of the day, only you will know if you didn’t give your all.  Be proud of who you are looking at in the mirror.

Are you already on top?  The best you’ve ever been?  Good… Keep going, keep being RELENTLESS!

Because those that are behind you today, are only getting better.  They are hungry and want nothing more than to knock you off of the mountain.

Don’t stop for anything… BE RELENTLESS today and every day forward.

Fuel that fire, become your best self and inspire those in the world around you to do the same.

Whatever you do on a daily basis or whatever you strive to be and become in the future, give it your all and give it your best each and every day. And never forget…
