We all have big dreams and aspirations to do great things. And yet, how often do we convince ourselves that "today" is just not the right day to take action? Someday, but not today. How does putting these things off serve us? And what if someday never comes?
How many of us have risen out of someone's shadow in our lives or careers? A parent, boss, mentor, teacher, or coach... They prepared us to step out of their shadow and take the lead in our own life. Take a moment a think of who those people are in your life... Now, ask yourself "who is standing in MY shadow right now?"
What does the future hold for you? What does the future hold for any of us? Will it be filled with memories of great accomplishments, experiences and realized goals, or will it be filled with regret for not doing the things that truly mattered? Since we don't really know what the future has in store for us, perhaps the more appropriate question is what do we believe that we can do, be and become in the future? So, what do you think? Are you a future legend?
In a world so focused on what other people have, or on what other people expect us to do, what if we instead focus on who we are while making sure the person we see in the mirror is someone we are proud to be?
Today's post is a bit selfish... call it a motivational speech to myself - one that I sorely need right now. And while I personally need this now, I know this feeling of treading water is something we all feel at times. So I hope today's message lights you up now or some day in the future when complacency tries to come knocking... BE RELENTLESS...
It's one thing to to acquire all the wealth, prestige, success, accolades, etc. - people do that all the time. However, what really stands out - what really creates a lasting impact, is when we give back... when we make a contribution in the lives of those around us.
We are surrounded by incredible resources - foods, technology, information, entertainment, etc. - all of which can have a positive impact and influence on our lives... in moderation. However, when things like social media, sugary foods, caffeinated beverages, streaming media, 24/7 news feeds become so ingrained in our lives, we run the risk of becoming overwhelmed, burnt out, and just plain unhealthy. Sometimes... it's time for a detox.
As we aspire to do and become more, we will inevitably have more and more people relying on and looking to us to perform, deliver, inspire and lead. Therefore, if we are to serve those that rely on us to perform our very best, then we must be selfish at times to make sure we are prioritizing our own body, mind, and spirit - we need to ensure our Inner Athlete is prepared and primed to play at its best.
